Lina Bo Bardi wins Venice’s Bienalle Gold Lion

Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992) will be honored with a Venice Biennale Gold Lion, a special recognition for her memory and her remarkable architecture and design works. Born in Italy, but with a “brazilian soul”, Lina was one of the most influential female Architect of all times and designed some Brazilian classics such as the Casa de Vidro (Glass House)MASP (São Paulo’s Art Museum) and Sesc Pompeia together with many ingenuous furniture pieces like the Brother Egidio Chair.

The official assignment, a idea of Hashim Sarkis, 17th Venice Architecture Bienalle curator, will take place next May, 22nd. For more information on Lina’s works check her Institute Web Site, this Furniture Design Post, and this Reppublica Newspaper article

Brazilian Architecture Boteco

Brazilian Architecture Boteco

More than 500 years of Brazilian Architectural Culture represented by 48 selected characters, chilling and drinking under the same roof.

This illustration contains 48 characters of Brazil’s Architecture History.
Want to figure out who are they? click here

This Boteco* is an imaginary place where Brazil’s Architecture historical figures gather to celebrate and make a toast for our country rich heritage in this particular art. An illustrated dream place where you can meet, talk and share a bottle with the greatest masters of the brazilian built environment (in my random and unscientific opinion).

Can you figure out who are them? Is there anybody missing? What are their stories?

*Boteco is a brazilian portuguese word used for bar (check here wikipedia’s full explanation)
