Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992) will be honored with a Venice Biennale Gold Lion, a special recognition for her memory and her remarkable architecture and design works. Born in Italy, but with a “brazilian soul”, Lina was one of the most influential female Architect of all times and designed some Brazilian classics such as the Casa de Vidro (Glass House), MASP (São Paulo’s Art Museum) and Sesc Pompeia together with many ingenuous furniture pieces like the Brother Egidio Chair.
The official assignment, a idea of Hashim Sarkis, 17th Venice Architecture Bienalle curator, will take place next May, 22nd. For more information on Lina’s works check her Institute Web Site, this Furniture Design Post, and this Reppublica Newspaper article
